Aamir Khan was a special guest at the launch of ‘Papa Kehte Hain’, the latest song from Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Srikanth’. The film features Rajkummar in the role of visually impaired industrialist Srikanth Bolla. The song gives a glimpse into Srikanth’s life journey, from his birth to becoming a successful entrepreneur. During its mega launch in Mumbai, Aamir was seen getting emotional as a visually impaired band took the stage to perform the new rendition of the iconic track from the Bollywood superstar’s 1988 movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.
In a video, shared by Instant Bollywood, Aamir can be seen holding back his tears as he claps during the band’s act. Rajkummar, on the other hand, is seen grooving to the song with a big smile on his face. They both were joined by Srikanth Bolla who was also seen enjoying the performance in the viral video.
The trailer of ‘Srikanth: Aa Raha Hai Sabki Aankhein Kholne’ was met with a lot of praise from the film industry. Arjun Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor, among others, gave a shout out to Rajkummar for his performance. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, the actor revealed that their words of appreciation has given him ‘a lot of confidence’ and he admits that this kind of support from his contemporaries goes a long way in busting the myth that showbiz is largely insecure.
“When something hits the right notes, everybody comes together. But otherwise, liking a film is very subjective. I might like something that another person didn’t and vice-versa. Once in a while, however, a film comes out that meets with unanimous love from everyone in the industry,” he said.
Shedding light on his prep for the part, Rajkummar told us, “I had no idea or clue as to how I want to approach this part. But after spending so much time with visually-impaired people and Srikanth himself, I got to learn about a lot of mannerisms I should incorporate to portray the part onscreen.”
