It is MET Monday 2024 and fans are eagerly waiting for their favourite celebrities’ latest high-fashion looks from the night. The Met Gala, a pinnacle of fashion extravagance and elegance, is a beacon for style enthusiasts worldwide. As the excitement surrounding the event continues to grow, the latest reports claim that Alia Bhatt will be making an appearance this year too.
A report by India Today mentions that Alia left for New York late at night on May 4. This will be Alia’s second Met appearance. She made her Met Gala debut in 2023 with Prabal Gurung. However, this year, Alia has kept the name of her designer under wraps.
In recent years, Indian representation at this prestigious event has burgeoned, with celebrities from the country and its diaspora making marks with their awe-inspiring ensembles. The theme for this year’s gala, ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,’ requires participants to interpret it creatively, with the dress code themed around ‘The Garden of Time’.
While reports claim that Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra will not be gracing the Gala this year, Alia Bhatt will reportedly return to the Met steps. Alia Bhatt made her highly anticipated Met Gala debut in 2023, dazzling onlookers in a bespoke gown by renowned designer Prabal Gurung. Her attire paid homage to fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, drawing inspiration from Lagerfeld’s iconic bridal look for Chanel’s autumn/winter 1992 collection. Adorned with delicate pearls and intricate embroidery, Alia Bhatt’s gown radiated timeless elegance.
Last year, in an exclusive chat with News18, Alia recalled walking the red carpet amid some of the biggest names in Hollywood and making India proud. “The little girl in me was just making sure that I don’t fall down on the red carpet and that I was getting enough time to pose, take a breath and enjoy the moment,” she told us.
While it made for a historic moment, Alia made sure that the pressure didn’t bog her down. “It’s not about giving yourself too much pressure and taking it seriously. It’s a massive and big deal but it was also about having fun and light on the inside, so that your face looks lit up and happy. That’s something I was focusing on. Having said that, I really had a lovely time,” she said.
Meanwhile, on the film front, Alia will soon be seen in Jigra. The film is directed by Vasan Bala and jointly produced by Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar. She has also signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
