The Lok Sabha elections are underway in the country and will be held in seven different phases. Polling in 102 Lok Sabha constituencies ended on Friday, April 19, as part of the first phase. As Tamil Nadu voted in the first phase of elections, many Tamil celebs including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith Kumar and Dhanush were snapped outside their respective polling booths on Friday. Maharashtra will vote in the first five phases. Mumbai will vote on May 20, with all of Bollywood turning up to cast their votes. Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt is definitely among the top brass of Bollywood. Even though she is of Indian descent, she does not hold Indian citizenship. She holds British citizenship instead. Her mother Soni Razdan was born in Birmingham and so was she. Since she is not an Indian citizen, the law does not allow her to vote in the elections.
Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif also holds British citizenship, instead of an Indian one. Katrina Kaif was born in British Hong Kong. Her father, Mohammed Kaif, is a British businessman of Kashmiri descent and her mother Susanna is an English lawyer and charity worker. Hence, although she has made a career out of appearing in Hindi films, she will not be able to cast her vote.
Jacqueline Fernandez
Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Bahrain, to a Sri Lankan father and a Malaysian mother. She holds Sri Lankan citizenship and hence, she does not have voting rights in India.
Nora Fatehi
Having made a name for himself through Indian cinema, Nora Fatehi’s parents are both from Morocco, making her of Moroccan descent. She however, holds Canadian citizenship and hence will be unable to vote in India.
