Emraan Hashmi, who was recently seen in ZEE5’s Tigers, is back with another content-driven film, Cheat India. If the trailer is anything to go by, he has a good story to begin with.
Reminding the audiences of Ranjit Singh alias Ranjit Don, whose stories of ‘settings’ in the premier institutions in the early 2000s jolted the entire Indian education system, Cheat India has Hashmi playing the lead role. He seems to be playing a fraud who bends the rule in his favour without any moral obligations or rather dilemma.
The 2-minute trailer video gives a sneak peek into how the exam centres are managed in order to get the favoured candidates selected in any particular competitive exam.
Earlier, in a statement, Hashmi said, “The script and title of Cheat India are supremely powerful. This is among the most engaging and riveting stories I've read in a while and I am thrilled to be essaying what I believe will be a landmark role in my filmography."
Emraan has joined hands with Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Atul Kasbekar and Tanuj Garg's Ellipsis Entertainment to produce the film, to be directed by Soumik Sen.
The first trailer definitely has a resonance among the viewers but will it stage a solid return to films for Emraan Hashmi who hasn’t quite delivered a commercially successful film in some time?
Cheat India will hit the screens on January 25, 2019.
