Hollywood actor Daniel Day-Lewis, known for his notable contributions like There Will Be Blood, Gangs of New York and others has decided to end his retirement. He will be seen working with his son, the first-time director Ronan Day-Lewis on a project called Anemone. This film is touted to be a family drama.
Daniel Day-Lewis has also penned the screenplay along with his son Ronan, under Plan B and Focus Features. The Gangs of New York actor also shared a photograph of an article informing the users about his debut.
The veteran actor’s followers congratulated him on his debut. Others dropped heart emoticons in the comment section, showing their love for the Gangs of New York actor.
Daniel Day-Lewis is considered one of the most outstanding actors of his generation. He is also the recipient of three Oscars and decided to retire from showbiz in 2017. The Gangs of New York’s actor spokeswoman confirmed the news in a statement cited by Variety magazine. She didn’t give any reason for the decision. The statement mentioned, “Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject.”
The actor last acted in the film Phantom Thread by director Paul Thomas Anderson, about the world of fashion in the 1950s. The 67-year-old actor played the role of Reynolds Woodcock in this film starring an ensemble star cast of the actors Vicky Krieps, Joan Brown, Sue Clark and others. Daniel Day-Lewis won positive reviews for his acting prowess in this film.
Daniel Day-Lewis is the child of poet Cecil Day-Lewis and actress Jill Balcon. He debuted at age 14 in the 1971 film Sunday Bloody Sunday. However, he received the critics’ attention with the films My Beautiful Laundrette and A Room with a View.
