Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa is currently serving as an undertrial prisoner at Parappana Agrahara for the Renukaswamy murder case. Along with him, three other involved suspects are serving their time at the jail. Initially, due to the high-profile nature of the case and security concerns, Darshan and the co-accused were placed in a high-security cell within the prison premises. Accused of kidnapping and murdering his fan Renukaswamy, Darshan is allegedly receiving preferential treatment while being lodged in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara jail. In a recent viral photo, the actor is seen in a grey t-shirt and black trousers. He is seen holding a cup of coffee and a cigarette in the other hand. Darshan is seen sitting with three other men in the garden area, sipping coffee and laughing about something. The viral photograph has raised significant security concerns within the prison. Several people started commenting on the preferential treatment received by the actor. Some condemned such biases. Now, Kannada director Nanda Kishore has come forward and called it fake.
Nanda Kishore empathised with Darshan and said that he is away from home and family. Commenting on his appearance with the rowdies, he said that the actor is not living among the saints. He called the photos of him smoking and drinking coffee fake. He blamed the era of technology for producing the photo.
“I personally do not believe this. It is not right that someone or two sit in the middle of such security in the prison and do something. They may not be given beds and meals by the government. What are they eating? No one knows what they are doing,” said Nanda Kishore while talking to the media.
He called the advent of AI technology, the root cause of producing morphed photos. “With the arrival of AI technology, the morphing photo has arrived. As you know, there are many morphed photos. Even the photos of the heroes who are not with us can be put in the movie. I think this is a fake photo,” said Nanda Kishore.
Nanda Kishore’s recent directorial film was Vrushabha, which starred Mohanlal in the lead role.
