PVR Inox Cinemas’ luxury arm, The Luxury Collection, has launched PVR Inox Lido in Mumbai’s Juhu. To celebrate, they are hosting a film festival marking 15 years of Zoya Akhtar’s career in Bollywood. The festival will feature her popular films like “Luck By Chance,” “Dil Dhadakne Do,” “Talaash,” “Gully Boy,” and “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.”
Zoya Akhtar debuted as a director with Luck By Chance in 2009. Over 15 years, she has built a diverse and influential career, breaking norms and resonating with wide audiences through films, OTT projects and web series. Meanwhile, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar of Excel Entertainment have played a crucial role in shaping Hindi cinema. Collaborating with Tiger Baby, they’ve delivered memorable hits exploring themes like love and self-discovery.
To celebrate, PVR INOX Ltd. organized a discussion with Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, Reema Kagti, and Ajay Bijli, Chairman and MD of PVR Cinemas. They talked about filmmaking and Zoya’s journey in movies. Zoya expressed her excitement about the retrospective, saying as per Bollywood Hungama, “When I heard about this retrospective, I was excited because my films are going to be on the big screen again. I love the movies. This industry has got all my heart, do not want to be anywhere else, this is my home.” She also highlighted the significance of the new PVR Inox Lido cinema, saying, The new PVR Lido cinema really gives the youth a chance to watch older films that may have been before their time – it’s a real gift.”
Talking about the retrospective, Farhan Akhtar said, ‘This means a lot to us. I would like to thank Mr. Ajay for encouraging people to return to theatres and making it a great experience. I myself have fond memories of watching films here back in the days.” Adding about the movies being screened, he said to Bollywood Hungama, “I’m proud of Zoya’s unique voice in filmmaking. As a collaborator, producer, and brother, I couldn’t be happier.”
