Gauahar Khan’s husband Zaid Darbar has left netizens disappointed and furious. Recently, Zaid took to his Instagram stories and shared a photo in which he was seen posing on a footpath in Mumbai. The picture also featured a homeless man sleeping nearby.
In the caption of his story, Zaid tagged his actress-wife Gauahar and wrote, “No AC, no fan, no darkness, but still sleeping so peacefully because no wife? But I am the most peaceful with you jaanu (darling) I love you jaanu…”
However, Zaid’s Instagram story disappointed netizens. Soon after a screenshot of it was shared on Reddit, several social media users reacted to it and bashed music composer Ismail Darbar’s son. “Is he really that stupid to put up a story like this?” one of the users wrote. Another person called him “disgusting and insensitive”.

“Gauahar is always busy in gyaan peloying (schooling) others and her husband is like this. Even yesterday (May 20), madam had a problem at the polling booth. Also, what gave him (Zaid) the right to click a random man’s picture, let alone while he is sleeping?? Imagine if someone had clicked him or Gauahar like that without consent?” a third comment read. “Tasteless joke in so many ways. It’s obviously sexist and boomer-humour. Of course, it’s also making fun of someone who is poor. What a sad man to get married to,” added another.
Meanwhile, Gauahar Khan was also trolled on Monday for suggesting the use of the Aadhaar card for voting. “I have an appeal. Why do we have Aadhar cards if we are not considered citizens enough to vote? Your Aadhaar card is your identity that you are an Indian citizen and you should be able to vote with that,” she said in a video she shared on her social media handle.
“People who have left the building are still on that list. I have seen it myself. And if I, my mom, my husband, everyone is registered on that building…. none of us are there. So how does one vote? We go with our Aadhar card, Id proof and they say, ‘No you cannot vote’,” the actress added.
Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar married in December 2020. They welcomed their first child, a baby boy in May 2023. The couple recently celebrated their son’s first birthday in Mumbai which was attended by several celebrities including Debina Bonnerjee, Hina Khan, Vinny Arora, Mahi Vij and Pankhuri Awasthy.
