Karan Johar has often received flak for indulging in nepotism when it comes to casting for his films. He has launched several star kids, including Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. When Karan was receiving immense trolling for his casting choices and the nepotism debate was at its peak in Bollywood, Kiara Advani said that the filmmaker cast her in Lust Stories even though she was an “outsider”.

Kiara told Anupama Chopra, “Karan gets so much hate for nepotism and all of that but to be honest, he took me when I was nobody and nobody told him to… I was with a particular agency that was very close to him at that time. They never pushed my name to work with him and they could have. I must have even told them that could you speak to him and see if I can get an audition, and they didn’t.”
