Actors Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat developed a cult following after working together in Murder. However, their feud in the early 2000s was also much talked about. Their scintillating onscreen chemistry in Anurag Basu’s Murder grabbed a lot of attention and ironically, that remained their first and last collaboration. However, now that their feud has ended, will they work together again?
Ranveer Allahabadia asked Mallika if she and Emraan had spoken after their feud. She said, “Of course. We were so young, silly and stupid. You know, ego comes in the way. Industry main kaan bhi bohot bharte hain na log. I was advised wrong. He’s a great guy. He’s a wonderful human being. I have great memories of filming with him, even doing those intimate scenes. He was an absolute gentleman. He made me feel safe, and really good about myself.”
Mallika added, “I would be very thrilled to work with him again and what a journey he’s had regarding his son and coming on top like that and having that experience. He’s just fabulous.”
For the unversed, Emraan and Mallika’s ‘Murder’ was a huge hit when it was released 20 years ago. However, the duo did not get along on the set. During an interview in 2021, Mallika recalled her fight with Emraan on the sets of ‘Murder’ and how they never spoke to each other.
During an interview on The Love Laugh Live show, when host Mandira Bedi asked about her fights with her co-actors, Mallika recalled “The funniest was with Emraan Hashmi after or during Murder. We didn’t speak and now I think it was so childish. It was after the film I think during promotions or something we had a misunderstanding. It was so uncalled for and so childish on my part also. I’m no less.” Mallika added that though she laughs about the fight now, they are no longer in touch.
In 2014, Emraan Hashmi made some controversial statements against Mallika on the chat show ‘Koffee With Karan.’ When host Karan Johar asked him to name the best and the worst on-screen kisses he had. Emraan said his “worst on-screen kiss” was with his Murder co-star, Mallika, while he called Jacqueline Fernandez a better kisser in ‘Murder 2’.
