In 2009, the Malayalam silver screens were graced with the film Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha. The name of the film when translated to English means Manikyam of Paleri: A Midnight Murder Story. The Malayalam mystery thriller was written and directed by Ranjith and headlined by Mammootty. It is based on the novel by TP Rajeevan by the same name which focuses on the “true story” of the first recorded murder case in the state. The film showcases Mammootty in a triple role. Despite being released 15 years ago, the film continues to hold a special place in the hearts of the Malayalees. Now, it is all set to be re-released for the third time.
Paleri Manikyam is gearing up for another release and the makers of the film have released the trailer to once again bring back the audience to the theatres and re-live the cinematic experience of the film. The official trailer of the 4K Atmos version features the latest sound technology that has been dropped on social media. The film is produced by Maha Subair and AV Anoop.

Fans were ecstatic to see the trailer. One wrote, “Best time to release trailer.” Another commented, “World-class acting performance!” One fan excitedly quipped, “What a great time for a re-release. Megastar Mammootty once again.”
The Malayalam film, Paleri Manikyam, swept the state awards when it was first released. It won four Kerala State Film Awards including the Best Film Award. Mammootty won his fifth Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his triple role as Ahmed Haji, Haridas and Khalid Ahmed in this film. Actress Shwetha Menon won her first Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in this film.
The film narrates the story of a private detective who returns to his birthplace, Paleri, to solve a murder mystery that occurred during the same time he was born. Apart from Mammootty and Shwetha Menon, the film stars Mythili, Sreenivasan, Siddique, Suresh Krishna, Mohammed, Mustafa, Shashi Kalinga, T. Damodaran, Vijayan V. Nair and Gauri Munjal.
