Bollywood actress Meenakshi Sheshadri revealed she had a kiss scene with Sunny Deol in their 1987 film Dacait. Meenakshi confessed that the kiss was ‘nerve-wrecking’ but it eventually did not make the cut. Looking back at the moment in a new interview, Meenakshi revealed that though filming the kiss was stressful, Sunny made the filming easy. For the unversed, Dacait was directed by Rahul Rawail and was written by Javed Akhtar. The film also starred Raakhee and Raza Murad.
“We had a romantic song in which we’re both on a boat before the song starts and he kisses me. It was an actual kiss. It was a little nerve-wracking for me because I am very conservative,” Meenakshi Sheshadri told Zoom TV. “He was such a gentleman. He was so relaxed and so easy to work with that it went through so smoothly. And I think that’s the reason why all other movies that I did with him, we had this very good equation and understanding,” she added.
In the same interview, Meenakshi revealed a shocking story about Damini (1993). Meenakshi was offered Damini but was removed because she rejected Rajkumar Santoshi’s advances and marriage proposal. Meenakshi revealed she turned towards the Producers Guild for support and eventually got the project again.
“The courage to stand up was important because nobody should be told they aren’t required anymore. It had several implications for rules in the workforce and beyond. I dealt with it by keeping quiet. I just said that I will choose not to comment on this as it is below my dignity to turn this into a fight. This is not a fight,” she said.
Meenakshi added, “I stood up for what I believe in, and if things were going to work out, we would work together as a team. That was the message I wanted to give to the film fraternity and the audiences. I was there to make a great film, and Damini was definitely going to be that.”
The actress was known not only for Damini and Dacait, but also for her performances in Aandhi-Toofan (1985), Meri Jung (1985), Swati (1986), Dilwaala (1986), Inaam Dus Hazaar (1987), Parivaar (1987), Shahenshah (1988), Mahaadev (1989), Awaargi (1990), Jurm (1990), Ghar Ho To Aisa (1990) and Duet (1994).
