Mohanlal Becomes President Of Association Of Malayalam Movie Artists For 3rd Time
In 2018, Mohanlal was unanimously elected the new President of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was elected as the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists for the third time in a meeting held in Kochi on June 19. The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists or AMMA was registered in 1994 as an association and welfare organisation for actors in Malayalam cinema. This organisation also focuses on charity work, including for the welfare of the ailing and helpless actors in the industry. Other contestants withdrew from the election.

As per reports, there will be changes in other important positions including that of the general secretary. Actor Edavela Babu has held this post for the longest time. The election for other positions will be organised during the general body meeting on June 30. As per reports actors Siddique, Cuckoo Parameswaran, Unni Sivapal, Jagadish, Manju Pillai and Jayan Cherthala will be contesting for the posts of general secretary and vice-president.

In 2018, Mohanlal was unanimously elected the new President of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). He had replaced the late Innocent, the hugely popular comedian and Communist Party of India (Marxist) backed Lok Sabha member from Chalakuddy. Innocent was the president for the past 18 years. Mohanlal’s election was a foregone conclusion as there was no other candidate when the last date for filing nominations closed early this month.

Unlike the past meetings of the AMMA, the media was kept away. The usual press meeting after the annual general body meeting was also not held and members were strictly instructed to keep a distance from the media.

Mohanlal is eagerly anticipating the release of his upcoming directorial debut Barroz starring him in the lead role. This film will hit the big screens on September 12, 2024. Touted to be a 3D fantasy adventure, Kalavoor Ravikumar has penned the Barroz’s dialogues. The film’s technical crew comprises cinematographer Santosh Sivan, production designer Santhosh Raman, and editor B Ajithkumar. Lydian Nadhaswaram, the young pianist who won the American television talent show ‘The World’s Best’, will compose the film’s music. Hollywood composer Mark Kilian will score the background music.
