Rishi Kapoor Passes Away: Aamir Khan to Priyanka Chopra, Celebrities Mourn Actor's Demise
Rishi Kapoor's demise was confirmed by his brother Randhir Kapoor and an official statement was also issued by the family. He passed away aged 67 on Thursday.

Veteran Actor Rishi Kapoor has passed away in Mumbai. The 67-year-old actor was admitted to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday night. Wife Neetu Kapoor was by his side.

An official statement from Rishi Kapoor's family was released. It read, "Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last. He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him."

Amitabh Bachchan condoled the death of his co-star of many films in a tweet on Thursday morning. Akshay Kumar also tweeted calling it a "heartbreaking" news. Superstar Rajinikanth said, "Heartbroken ... Rest In Peace ... my dearest friend (sic)."

Many other celebrities including Priyanka Chopra, Aamir Khan, Lata Mangeshkar, Anushka Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, John Abraham, Kriti Sanon, Farhan Akhtar, Ajay Devgn, Shahid Kapoor poured in their condolences upon learning about Rishi's demise.

In 2018, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer for the first time, following which the actor was in New York for nearly a year to undergo treatment. He returned to India in September 2019 after recovering. Post return to India, Kapoor's health has frequently been in focus.
