Shekhar Home: Kay Kay Menon Shares First Look As Detective Sherlock Holmes

The first official glimpse of director Srijit Mukherji’s upcoming web series Shekhar Home has been unveiled. Shekhar Home is touted to be an Indian adaptation of the fictional detective character Sherlock Holmes, created by acclaimed British novelist Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The series stars Kay Kay Menon in the role of the titular character, alongside Rasika Dugal, Ranvir Shorey, and Kaushik Sen. Now, Kay Kay Menon has dropped a video on Instagram, featuring the first look of his Sherlock Holmes character. Scheduled to premiere on JioCinema Premium, the release date of Shekhar Holmes has not been revealed.

Sharing the video on Instagram, Kay Kay Menon wrote, “Piece it together and you’ll realize HE is the only one who can solve all mysteries. Shekhar Holmes coming soon exclusively on JioCinema Premium. Disclaimer: This Programme is an original work of fiction inspired by literary works by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle which are in the public domain.”

The video opens with a puzzle board where the puzzle pieces are not in order. One by one the pieces move sideways and upwards to create an impression of a person. When the puzzle is complete, a portrait photo of Kay Kay Menon becomes visible against the backdrop of vintage yellow paper. Similar to Sherlock Holmes, the actor appeared to wear a collared cloak upon a white shirt. He paired it with Holmes’ iconic deerstalker hat. From Kay Kay Menon’s expressions, it seemed that he was deep in thought much like the Sherlock Holmes books and shows. The video ended with the words, “Coming soon”.

Social media users were quick to react to the post. “Kay Kay is Back,” exclaimed an excited person. “Finally a new project,” commented another. “Man I am waiting for this,” confessed an individual.

Last year, Srijit Mukherji hinted that he was working on a detective project. He shared a photo on Instagram posing in front of a poster featuring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. The Hollywood actors portrayed the roles of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson respectively in the 2009 HBO series Sherlock.
