During his 30-year long association with the film industry, Khan has in fact played godfather to numerous Bollywood personalities.

Here is a quick look at some celebrities who owe their careers to the star:

Himesh Reshammiya: It was in 1998 that aspiring music composer Himesh Reshammiya’s B-town ambitions received a lease of life, when Salman Khan asked him to compose the title track of the Sohail Khan-directed ‘Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’. The Kumar Sanu-crooned track proved to be a huge success, helping Reshammiya begin his B-town innings in an enviable manner. Thereafter, the ‘capped wonder’ developed a healthy friendship with the ‘Dabangg’ star. This led to collaborations such as ‘Tere Naam’, ‘Hello Brother’ and ‘Bodyguard’.

Sajid-Wajid: Himesh Reshammiya wasn’t the only newcomer who made his debut with ‘Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’. The romantic-comedy also served as the very first B-town outing for music composers Sajid-Wajid. The brothers composed a catchy qawwali titled ‘Teri Jawaani’. Shortly after the film’s release, the musical duo became close friends with Salman Khan. Since then, they have joined hands with the star on numerous occasions. The most notable collaborations include ‘Wanted’ and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’.

Arjun Kapoor: A few years ago Arjun Kapoor weighed well over 100 kilos, making it almost impossible for him to enter B-town as a leading man. Things, however, changed when the youngster met Salman on the sets of ‘No Entry’. The ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ actor took Kapoor under his wing, helping him build a solid physique. Katrina Kaif: It was in 2004 that Katrina Kaif’s career got off to an embarrassing start, when she was criticized for her wooden act in ‘Boom’. Shortly thereafter, the actress became friends with Salman Khan. Sonakshi Sinha: The daughter of veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi made her debut opposite Salman Khan in the 2010 release ‘Dabangg’. During its shooting, the newcomer formed a special bond with the star, accepting his as her friend-cum-mentor. The two joined hand once again a few years later for ’Dabangg 2’.
