Chiyaan Vikram has a sizable fan following in Kerala and hence the state is eagerly waiting for the release of the star’s upcoming Thangalaan. With the August 15 release date just 3 days away, the team of Thangalaan has been on an aggressive promotional campaign in different states. After Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, the Thangalaan team had planned to hold promotional campaigns in Kerala but the campaign has now been cancelled given the Wayanad landslides. The Wayanad landslides occurred on July 30 and the disaster stands as one of the deadliest in Kerala’s history, with reports of at least 431 fatalities, over 378 injuries, and more than 130 people missing.
Accordingly, the team of Thangalaan found it inappropriate to promote the film in the state when it was in mourning. Additionally, the cost that was supposed to be put in for the Kerala promotions will instead be donated towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Gokulam Movies, the film’s distributor in Kerala, also shared this on social media. Previously, Vikram had contributed Rs 20 lakh to the Chief Minister’s relief fund and expressed his sorrow over the tragic loss of many lives.

The music for the movie is composed by GV Prakash. The film, which centres on the lives of those who resided in the Kolar Gold Fields during the British era of gold excavation, has been granted a U/A certification by the censor board. Besides Tamil, the movie will also be released in Telugu and Hindi.
