Actress Aruna Irani is one of the most popular names in the Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, and Gujarati entertainment industries. She has worked on more than 500 films. Do you know a fake wedding rumour once took all the limelight from the actress? According to reports, Aruna Irani started her career as a character artist at a very young age. At that time, she was facing a financial crisis at home. That’s when she met actor, producer and director Mehmood Ali. Her life took a turn after this meeting. He helped Aruna Irani a lot in her career. As per reports, Aruna Irani started believing that Mehmood would help him transition from small to lead roles in films. But the scenario was completely different. Mehmood was almost about to end Aruna Irani’s career. In an earlier media interaction, Aruna Irani admitted that she had an inclination towards Mehmood, but said that she was never in love with him.
The actress clearly said, “I was a small artist, and every other person had their eyes on me. So I thought it would be better for me to stay with only one person. Then I chose Mehmood Ali.” Aruna Irani also said that this relationship was like a person being under the influence of someone’s favours. “I couldn’t say no to him for anything,” she said.
Reports suggest that when Aruna Irani’s fame increased and she established herself as a lead actress, Mehmood fell in love with her. He did not want Aruna to work outside though. Then he started spreading rumours that both of them are married. He would tell people that Aruna no longer wants to work in films. Aruna Irani was totally unaware of these things.
Years later, Vinod Khanna told her that he wanted her as his heroine in a film, and he talked to Mehmood about this; but Mehmood told him that Aruna would work only with top stars. Vinod Khanna was not a star then.
Later, Aruna Irani came to know about this incident and the false news of her marriage. But within that time, film producers and directors stopped contacting her. This was because, at that time, no one wanted to work with married actresses. Aruna Irani stopped getting work and had to sit at home. This situation remained the same for about three and a half years. Then she started getting work.
Aruna Irani was unable to achieve fame as the lead heroine as she started getting offers only for negative roles. The roles of evil mother and cruel mother-in-law earned her recognition as a vamp in Bollywood. Some of her popular movies include Mawaali, Beti No. 1, and Hameshaa.
