When Reena Roy Skipped School To Watch Rajesh Khanna Films
Reena Roy has admitted many times how she was the biggest fan of Rajesh Khanna, who behaved just like an average fan girl.

Rajesh Khanna considered the first superstar of India, unsurprisingly was a sensation among women and girls. Not even the top actresses of the time were immune to his good looks and charm. One of those leading ladies is Reena Roy, a top name in the 70s-80s Bollywood, who was also a self-proclaimed, die-hard Rajesh Khanna fan.

In one of the earlier episodes of the Kapil Sharma Show, Reena Roy revealed how she was the biggest fan of Rajesh Khanna, who behaved just like an average fan girl. In the episode, Kapil asks the veteran actress that why her mother did not let her watch Rajesh Khanna films. To this, she replies with a very retable reason, which many of us may have gone through.

According to the actress, she used to bunk her school and stand outside the superstar’s residence with her friends to catch a lucky glimpse. She stated, “As a child, I had immense love for Rajesh Khanna’s movies, and my infatuation drove me to take some drastic measures,” revealing the said measures.

The actress further revealed that she used to exhaust her sister’s piggy bank as well as her own money to watch his films. She mentioned how life had its way and she ended up entering the film industry, getting a chance to not only meet but work with her superstar crush. Reena Roy stated, “Life truly has a remarkable way of fulfilling our deepest desires.”

Rajesh Khanna and Reena Roy have worked in films like Dhanwan and Asha Jyoti. The former was released in 1981 and is a Surendra Mohan directorial. It starred Rajesh Khanna and Reena Roy as the leads, along with Aruna Irani, Rakesh Roshan, Shakti Kapoor, Om Prakash and Vijayendra Ghatge. It was produced by Sohanlal Kanwar while Hridaynath Mangeshkar gave the music.

Asha Jyoti was released in 1984, with Rajesh Khanna, Reena Roy and Rekha in the leads. It was directed by Dasari Narayana Rao and Kovai Chezhiyan produced it. The music in the film was done by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
