Whoopi Goldberg Reacts To Beyonce’s Zero Nominations At 2024 CMAs: ‘I Don’t Think She Is Snubbed’
Whoopi Goldberg reacts to the conversation surrounding the lack of nominations for Beyonce’s album Cowboy Carter in CMAs 2024.

The 2024 Country Music Awards (CMA) is just around the corner and the association released the full list of nominees for the 58th annual event just days back. To everyone’s surprise, the much-celebrated singer Beyonce did not receive even one nomination despite her releasing a chart-topping hit Texas Hold ‘Em from her first entry into the country genre, Cowboy Carter.

When this made it to the headlines, several celebrities reacted to it, with the latest being Whoopi Goldberg. In a recent episode of The View, the 68-year-old actress shared her opinion: “A lot of people are surprised — I don’t know why — that it didn’t receive a single CMA Award nomination. I don’t think she was snubbed, I think they just didn’t… it wasn’t for them.”

Goldberg’s statement was part of the conversations surrounding Beyonce’s album Cowboy Carter, which was released in March of this year. The singer’s first country album has performed remarkably well, topping the Billboard 200 chart and staying at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart for an entire month. Despite the album’s astounding success, it struggled to make a lasting impact on the country music industry.

In the same episode, Goldberg’s co-host, Sunny Hostin, expressed her surprise as Jolene and Texas Hold ‘Em didn’t get the recognition she thought that they would get. “I thought she would at least get nominated for those two. But, my mother always told me, ‘Find the audience that’s looking for you.’ This audience isn’t looking for her,” added Hostin.

Meanwhile, Alyssa Farah Griffin chipped in and said, “I love the CMAs, they put on a great show every year. But the Country Billboard charts do not lie, eight tracks in the top ten of the country charts. The album itself spent four weeks on the top of the country charts album, so the listeners are with her. People are totally here for the crossover in the genre.”

Previously, Beyonce’s father, Mathew Knowles expressed his disappointment as Cowboy Carter did not receive any nominations at the upcoming CMAs. Talking to TMZ, he said, “There are more white people in America, and unfortunately, they don’t vote based on ability and achievements; it’s still sometimes a white and black thing. In America, there’s no accountability for people not being accepting of other cultures.”

In the same conversation, Bey’s dad also referenced her controversial performance with the Dixie Chicks at the 2016 CMAs and mentioned that the award show never properly apologised to his daughter.
