Why Vidya Balan, Despite Having Net Worth Of Rs 136 Crore, Lives In A Rented Home

Vidya Balan, one of the finest actresses in Bollywood, is currently living in a rented accommodation. The 45-year-old, known for her acting prowess in the films Parineeta and Kahaani, has a net worth of Rs 136 crore reportedly. She recently revealed the reason why she didn’t buy a house. At the 22nd Credal Natcon event in Sydney, she spoke to an audience of over 1,100 real estate developers. Vidya Balan emphasised that purchasing a dream home is all about luck. During the event, she also explained why she chose to live in a rented house, despite her apprehensions about it. At the event, Vidya claimed that searching for the perfect house is a matter of destiny. “You walk into a house and you know it’s yours,” she said. Remembering her house-hunting experience with her mother about 15 years ago, Vidya Balan shared that she was seeking a place closer to her work in Bandra or Juhu. She wanted to avoid the long commute to Chembur.

During the search, Vidya Balan found her perfect home, but it was beyond their budget. Despite that, Vidya remembered how her mother encouraged her to focus on managing the EMI, which ultimately led to the purchase. Vidya Balan remembered that when she walked into the house, it felt like her home. She expressed that the purchase seemed destined to happen. The actress had to again go on a house hunt when she married film producer Siddharth Roy Kapur. Vidya shared that she looked at around 25 houses but couldn’t agree on any. Eventually, Vidya and Siddharth discovered a house they both liked, but it was a rental — something she wasn’t comfortable with. Vidya Balan remembered saying that she did not want to live in a rented house.

She and Siddharth ended up resisting the same property after struggling to find the perfect home and ultimately decided to rent it. Explaining her reason behind the same, Vidya Balan noted that it was rare to find a garden and a sea view in such a densely populated city. According to her, the arrangement has worked out well for the couple, as their landlord is happy earning a fat cheque from the deal.
