Fans of Zendaya and Robert Pattinson might soon get a chance to see the two together on the big screen. The two actors are reportedly in the initial stages of discussions to star in The Drama. It will be directed and written by Kristoffer Borgli, known for his most recent comedy fantasy film titled Dream Scenario, released in November last year. While specifics about the project remain undisclosed, early reports hint that the upcoming film’s plot might revolve around a romance that goes in an unexpected direction, just before a couple’s wedding day.
The film will also be co-produced by Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen and Tyler Campellone, under their Square Peg banner. “Following the Dream Scenario success last fall, A24 was high on working with Borgli again, but the project gained serious momentum after Zendaya showed a strong interest in starring. Pattinson followed later and, while deals still need to close, the project has now become a top priority at the studio,” reports Deadline.
Zendaya has already had a number of releases this year. She starred in Dune: Part Two along with Timothee Chalamet. In Challengers, she worked with actors Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor. She is also set to return to her Emmy and Golden Globe-winning role as teen girl Rue Bennett in the upcoming third season of HBO’s successful drama Euphoria.
Meanwhile, actor Robert Pattinson will be seen next in a sci-fi film titled Mickey 17. It is set to be released in January next year. He will also be turning producer for Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love. His recent credits include portraying Bruce Wayne in The Batman and voicing the Grey Heron in the English-dubbed version of Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron.
Zendaya is represented by the label CAA, Monster Talent Management and Andre Des Rochers at Granderson Des Rochers. Robert Pattinson is repped by 3 Arts Entertainment, WME, Curtis Brown and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern labels, as per a report in Deadline.
This potential film adds to the list of collaborations between A24 and Square Peg, which already includes well-known titles such as horror blockbuster Hereditary, Midsommar and Dream Scenario. The two production houses reportedly have more future releases in the pipeline which include Death of a Unicorn featuring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega and Eddington which will star Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal and Emma Stone in key roles.
