BMC counsel Anil Sakhare also told the HC that 2,586 bed-ridden people have so far been administered both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine, while 3,942 people got the first jab.

Mumbai has fully immunised 50% of its 92.4 lakh adult population, becoming the first district in Maharashtra to reach that mark, TOI reported. Over 44.6 lakh people have got both shots, while nearly 86 lakh people (93%) have been given at least one shot. Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, 30% have been fully vaccinated.

BMC commissioner I S Chahal said he was optimistic that all of Mumbai’s adult population will be vaccinated with at least one shot by October-end.

The highest coverage has been among senior citizens where over 76% are fully vaccinated and over 100% have got at least one shot. In the 45-59 group, over 100% have got the first dose and 71% have been fully vaccinated. In the 18-44 group, 82% have been covered with at least the first dose.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation told the Bombay High Court on Monday that it does not apprehend a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in the city as the vaccination drive is going on smoothly, with over 44.6 lakh people fully vaccinated and over 86 lakh people have received the first dose.

BMC counsel Anil Sakhare also told the HC that 2,586 bed-ridden people have so far been administered both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine while 3,942 such people have got the first jab.
