Jimmy Shergill, who entered the Hindi film industry with a memorable performance in Gulzar’s celebrated film Maachis, achieved fame for his role in the romantic drama Mohabbatein, starring Shah Rukh Khan. Owing to his demanding schedule following the film’s release, Jimmy found himself with little to no personal time. During a recent interview, the actor shared that he was so engrossed in his work that he couldn’t participate in all the events of his own wedding, and it felt like he was a guest there.
During a conversation with Cyrus Broacha on his YouTube channel, Jimmy mentioned that for two years following Mohabbatein, he found himself frequently cast in similar roles. He said, “I was doing that kind of roles – all romantic, singing and dance. In the middle, I had been a guest at my own wedding also because I couldn’t take out time. Like North Indian weddings they keep the functions for 10-15 days. I couldn’t make it for those many days, I was there only for 2-3 days because I was shooting for the film Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar. I only went for the main functions of my marriage. That’s how things were 2-3 years after Mohabbatein.”
During the course of the interview, Jimmy shared that he understood he needed to change things to keep his career going. So, he decided to try different types of roles, and it all started with his role in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Haasil (2003), which was a big change for him.
Jimmy Shergill is set to star in a thrilling new project, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, directed by Neeraj Pandey. He will share the screen with Ajay Devgn and Tabu in it. The film is a musical love story that unfolds over two decades, spanning from 2002 to 2023. He was last seen in Choona, a film around a dysfunctional heist, loaded with drama and comedy. It released on Netflix.
