A blast at Century Mills in Ulhasnagar near Mumbai left one worker dead and four others injured. The incident took place after a tanker exploded at a manufacturing unit in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Saturday, an official said.
Quoting officials, a PTI report said the blast occurred in a tanker containing nitrogen parked at a manufacturing unit at Shahad in Ulhasnagar at around 11:00 am.
The injured workers were rushed to a hospital, said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the disaster management cell of the TMC.
The body of the deceased worker, identified as Shailendra Yadav was sent for post-mortem.
Ulhasnagar tehsildar Akshay Dhakne said a rescue operation was undertaken at the site of the incident.
An investigation into the incident is underway by the local police.
In a similar incident, two persons were killed after a boiler exploded at an aluminium factory in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district on Friday, police said.
According to a PTI report, the incident occurred at a factory in Damodih village in the Katkamdag police station area.
“The blast happened a few minutes after 1 pm. Two workers were killed. However, the cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained. An investigation is underway,” Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chothe said.
