After a successful stint at the box office, Karan Johar’s much-talked-about film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was quietly released on OTT earlier this week. The film is currently available to rent on Amazon’s Prime Video and will soon be available to stream for free. The OTT version of the film also features an extra 10 minutes which were cut from the theatrical version due to time constraints.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is headlined by Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, who play Rocky Randhawa and Rani Chatterjee respectively. In an attempt to reunite their grandparents who are estranged lovers, Rocky and Rani themselves fall in love. The film traces their love story, from their families’ initial opposition to their final reconciliation.
After grossing a whopping Rs. 343.98 crores at the worldwide box office, the film is now available on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. Currently, the film is available to rent for 30 days. However, it will soon be available for free on the platform.
The OTT version of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani features an extended 10 minutes which were cut from the original version due to time constraints. This has increased the film’s run time to 2 hours and 58 minutes.
The film is touted by many as one of Karan Johar’s best films as a director. The film was lauded by fans for its stellar ensemble cast, groovy soundtrack and over-the-top set design – all quintessential elements of a Karan Johar family entertainer.
The film features Jaya Bachchan and Dharmendra as an on-screen couple and Ranveer Singh’s paternal grandparents. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt’s paternal grandmother is played by Shabana Azmi. The addition of the veteran actors in the film’s cast remains one of the most talked-about aspects of the film.
The film was originally released in theatres on July 28 this year and marked Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s second cinematic collaboration after Gully Boy.
