Vikrant Massey is currently basking in the success of his recent film 12th Fail. The film turned out to be a sleeper hit at the box office. Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film has been submitted for consideration at the Oscars as an independent nomination. Vikrant recently opened up about playing the protagonist in the film and recalled a shot where he could not stop crying even after calling cut.
Vikrant plays the role of Manoj Kumar Sharma in the film, who overcomes many hurdles to pass the tough UPSC exam. Speaking to ANI recently, Vikrant recalled the deep impact that the film had on him. “Even with Manoj Kumar Sharma, there were moments when Vinod sir would call a cut and I would continue weeping even after the cut was called because I just could not control myself,” he said.
Vikrant mentioned in the interview that some roles have a great impact on the actor personally. He also mentioned how playing his character in A Death in the Gunj pushed him to dark corners. “That was the first time, after filming that film, I started taking therapy because I felt I needed to talk to someone. If you tell your parents about your worries, then they get worried so you really can’t share all these things with them. Because it was a very dark film. It pushed me to certain darker corners,” he said.
Navigating a decade in the industry with notable projects like Lootera and A Death in the Gunj, Vikrant recently expressed gratitude for the opportunities and support he’s received. He recognized the film industry’s democratic nature but refrained from labelling it as a family, emphasizing the importance of consistency in his career and earning people’s trust.
On the personal front, Vikrant is currently expecting his first child with his wife Sheetal Thakur.
