When Actor-Director Mahesh Kothare Had To Sell His House To Pay Off Debts
While interacting with the media recently, Mahesh Kothare recalled the struggling phase of his life.

Mahesh Kothare is one of the multi-talented personalities of Indian cinema. After proving his mettle in acting, he turned towards filmmaking and gained immense success with his debut movie Dhoom Dhadaka in 1985. At the beginning of this year, Mahesh Kothare released his memoir titled Damn It Aani Barach Kahi. Through this book, he shared his journey to fame and opened up about his struggles and failures. He turned 70 yesterday, on September 28.

While interacting with the media recently, Mahesh Kothare recalled the struggling phase of his life. When asked about the choices of his life events in the book, Mahesh nonchalantly replied that he had gone all out with this book. He said that he did not try to hide anything about himself. He has spoken extensively about this family situation, struggles and films in his memoir. During the interaction, Mahesh Kothare opens up about one painful time of his life when he was suffering through a financial crisis due to which he had no roof above his head.

In 1999, Mahesh Kothare directed the Hindi film titled Lo Mai Aagaya. It failed miserably at the box office. He called it a big mistake of his life, which led him to struggle financially for the next 15 years. Mahesh Kothare said that this period was tough for him. During this time, Mahesh had no roof over his head. He had to sell his house to compensate for the family’s other financial needs. “My son was in his college days and we even had to get his admission to in MBA. That was a very tough situation,” said Mahesh Kothare. His son Aditya Kothare understood the dire situation of his home and never demanded anything from his father.

Mahesh Kothare turned 70 years old on September 28. He started his acting career as a child artist. He is well known for movies like Raja Aur Runk, Chhota Bhai, Mere Laal and Ghar Ghar Ki Kahaani. He has delivered many box office hits over a period of 20 years.
