Do you remember actress Rimi Sen? She had predominantly worked in Bollywood and also forayed into Telugu and Bengali film industries. She is known for films like Hungama, Dhoom and Golmaal: Fun Unlimited. In her career spanning over two decades, she has delivered many hits. Many wonder what she is up to nowadays, as she has stepped away from the limelight for a long time now. Before finding an answer to this, let us take a look at her journey in Bollywood. Rimi Sen was born Subhamitra Sen in Kolkata. She came to Mumbai and was roped in for a Coca-Cola ad along with Aamir Khan. She marked her debut in 2002 as an actress in the Telugu movie, Nee Thodu Kavali. In the following year, she made her debut in Bollywood with Vijay Galani’s Hungama. Apart from her, the comedy movie starred Akshaye Khanna, Aftab Shivdasani and Paresh Rawal. She received appreciation for her role in the movie.
Soon, she was roped in big-budget movies like Dhoom opposite Abhishek Bachchan, Salman Khan’s Kyon Ki, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham-fronted Garam Masala and Ajay Devgn-led Golmaal. She also had a cameo in Dhoom 2, followed by Johnny Gaddar, starring opposite debutant Neil Nitin Mukesh. Her career took a hit after she starred in box-office disasters De Taali, Sankat City and Horn Ok Pleassss. She has also been featured in movies like Thank You and Shagird, both had a lack-lustre performance at the box office. In 2015, she participated in the reality show Bigg Boss.
She distanced herself from movies during the peak of her career. Rimi Sen later cited various reasons like nepotism and lack of good roles for women in films, as to why she was not satisfied in her career. As per reports, she lost interest in movies as she was typecast. She wanted different roles. Even though she was a part of many popular movies, she failed to get the recognition she deserved for her performances. This is said to be yet another reason why she took a break from acting.
Reportedly, Rimi Sen is all set to make a comeback soon. As per reports, she will be producing a web show and acting in it as well. She has not confirmed this news yet.
