'Never Dreamed of Playing a World Cup Final Against India': Travis Head After Australia Book Place in Summit Clash
Travis Head talked about playing India in the final of the World Cup which never dreamt of,

Travis Head opened up on his comeback from injury and producing match-winning performances for Australia including an all-round show in the semi-final against South Africa at Eden Gardens. Head was named Player of the Match on Thursday for his 62-run knock and a couple of crucial wickets with the ball.

Head entered the tournament with a fractured arm and missed the initial stage but the Aussie team backed and retained him in the squad. It paid off well as Head already played a couple of crucial knocks for them in 5 matches he played thus far.

“I thought I wasn’t going to be here (after the hand injury), but I am happy to contribute for Australia, nice to be here,” Head said in the post-match presentation.

The left-handed opener also talked about the tricky chase and asserted that they knew it was going to be a tough battle considering the conditions.

“Hard to unpack all of that. Tense finish, amazing game. Didn’t move from the seat for the last part. We knew how it was going to play, we had three or four days here. We haven’t seen such spin, we knew we had to battle,” he added.

Head took two wickets in consecutive deliveries to send Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen and he was happy to hit the timber while claiming his first of the night.

“Straight as they came (Klaasen dismissal). He (Klaasen) smacked me, was under the pump, but it was nice to get his wicket. I was prepared to bowl a few overs, always keen to contribute with the ball,” he added.

Talking about his own knock, he was disappointed by the way he was bowled by  Keshav Maharaj.

“We have had that positive approach to keep the pace rolling. Disappointed for the way I got out, that (vs Maharaj) was a match-up against a left-arm spinner, but wasn’t to be,” he added.

Meanwhile, Head also talked about playing India in the final which never dreamt of,

“It’s an unbelievable attack, their bowlers look sharp and they (India) have been one of the best teams in the competition, never dreamed of playing a World Cup final against them,” he added.
