Adjustment with RJD not possible: Congress
On Tuesday, RJD and LJP left just three seats for Congress.

New Delhi: No adjustment was possible with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) after its unilateral announcement with the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) about seat distribution in Bihar, the Congress said on Wednesday.

"Any adjustment is not possible with the RJD at this stage. Even if there is an adjustment, it would be for only a few seats; our workers are agitated and we have to listen to them also," senior Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde told reporters.

On Tuesday, RJD chief Lalu Prasad and LJP president Ram Vilas Paswan, key constituents of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance, said they would contest the elections together.

According to them, the RJD would contest 25 seats, the LJP 12 and the Congress would be left with only three.

In an apparent tit-for-tat response, the Congress has announced that it will give only two of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand to Lalu Yadav's RJD. The Congress has left no seats for Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party.

Polling for the 40 parliamentary seats in Bihar would be held in four phases on April 16, April 23, April 30 and May 7. Results would be declared on May 16.

Meanwhile, the Congress' ties with its ally the NCP too are strained and the Government on Wednesday imposed President's Rule in Meghalaya, a day after the NCP government there narrowly survived a trust vote.
