Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, three MLAs of the Rashtriya Janata Dal-led ‘Mahagathbandhan‘ in Bihar have quit from the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This comes as another jolt to the Congress-led INDIA bloc in Bihar.
Among the ones who left the alliance, two legislators, Murari Prasad Gautam and Siddharth Saurav were from the Congress and Sangita Kumari was from RJD who have now joined the BJP.
According to sources, quoted by India Today, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary has played an important role in bringing together the three legislators.
Congress leader Murari Prasad Gautam, a Congress legislator and former Bihar minister is from the Chenari constituency in Vidhan Sabha, Siddharth Saurav represents the Vikram constituency whereas RJD’s Sangeeta Devi represents the Mohaniya Vidhan Sabha seat.
On Tuesday, in a fresh trouble for Bihar’s opposition Mahagathbandhan’, three MLAs of the Congress-RJD combine sat with the treasury members inside the state assembly.
The drama unfolded in the post-lunch session when RJD’s Sangita Kumari, besides Murari Gautam and Siddharth Singh (both Congress), were seen entering the assembly behind Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who is also the state BJP president.
Speaking about the incident, RJD chief whip Akhtarul Islam Shaheen said that the MLAs who have violated the whip will be punished within 2-3 days.
On the other hand, former BJP minister Neeraj Singh claimed that many more MLAs will join hands with the BJP. “It’s the money of RJD and Khela of BJP,” he said.
