Chennai: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) supremo J Jayalalithaa has received a death threat.
An anonymous letter received on Monday at Jayalalithaa's residence at Poes Garden in Chennai warned the Tamil Nadu politician of dire consequences over the Madras High Court incident in which lawyers clashed with the police on the Sri Lankan crisis.
The Home Ministry has also warned Jayalalithaa of threat to her life.
The letter mentions the High Court incidents in February and blames Jayalalithaa and her party for instigating lawyers during the clash.
It warns of bomb blasts outside her house and says her convoy could also be made a target.
The letter makes a mention of the assassination of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi as well.
The AIADMK has lodged a police complaint.
On February 19, several advocates and a judge were injured in a clash between lawyers and police in the Madras High court premises following a lathicharge and stone-pelting incidents.
The clash had occurred after police tried to arrest some advocates in connection with an incident in which eggs were thrown at Janata party President Subramanian Swamy in the court hall.
