BJP's Tandon alleges parties trying to buy votes
Lalji Tandon is BJP candidate from Lucknow Lok Sabha seat.

Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Lucknow Lok Sabha seat Lalji Tandon on Monday accused some political parties in Uttar Pradesh of trying to influence voters by distributing money.

"Some parties are trying to influence the electorates and want to buy their votes, but they are not aware of the fact that voters of Lucknow are not up for sale," Tandon said during an election meeting at Gomti Nagar.

Cautioning the party workers to remain aware of the propaganda by other parties, Tandon said, "Opposition parties will try to provoke you (workers)...but you should remain vigilant and adhere by the model code of conduct."

He claimed that the people are inclined towards the BJP and asked party workers to highlight the wrong doings of the Centre and state governments.

People of Lucknow have ensured victory of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee several times in the past, he said, adding, "BJP's victory from Lucknow seat will be a gift to Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Vajpayee who is not well these days, will get hail and hearty with party's victory."

Earlier in the day, Tandon alongwith party's UP in-charge Kalraj Mishra, state President Ramapati Ram Tripathi and Mayor Dinesh Sharma inaugurated BJP's central election office.

Tandon will file his nomination papers on April 6, the foundation day of the party.
