Hyderabad: Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) chief Chiranjeevi has promised that his party would field maximum number of women candidates in the April elections in Andhra Pradesh.
Women have been my biggest supporters. The Praja Rajyam Party will do everything for the welfare and empowerment of women, Chiranjeevi assured on the occasion of the International Women's Day at the PRP office here on Sunday.
He said the PRP was also considering to field physically-challenged persons in the coming elections.
Addressing the PRP Doctors' Forum, Chiranjeevi said PRP's prime focus, if elected to power, would be on health care.
Three per cent of the state budget would be earmarked for health care and all government hospitals would be developed on par with corporate hospitals, he said.
In the evening, Chiranjeevi took part in a road show at Nizampet, organised by 'Do It' team of Information Technology professionals.
PRP has ushered in a silent revolution in Andhra Pradesh. The corrupt and rotten politics in the state will be wiped out in this revolution, Chiranjeevi said.
Rebutting criticism against him, the actor-turned-politician maintained he did not enter the political arena to make lakhs of crores of rupees unlike others, which was an oblique reference to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
"I have joined politics to bring about a change that the people have been yearning for. And, that change will certainly come in the days to come," Chiranjeevi asserted.
With a lot of music going on at the venue, the actor in Chiranjeevi resurfaced and he danced to drumbeats along with enthusiastic youth.
