Khan said, "The Bill could have also been brought in by way of the ordinance like the other bills."
New Delhi: Minorities Affairs Minister K Rahman Khan on Monday said the government should have brought in the Communal Violence Bill also through an ordinance route. The remarks came a day after the Cabinet cleared an ordinance to amend the Prevention of Atrocities against SC/ST Act.
Khan said, "I was of the view that the Communal Violence Bill should be passed, and I think that it should have been passed by way of an ordinance. The Bill is the need of the hour. This could have also been brought in by way of the ordinance like the other bills."
The Congress was even trying to push through party Vice President Rahul Gandhi's anti-graft ordinances but failed to do so as President Pranab Mukherjee expressed his reluctance to sign them.
