New Delhi: Samajwadi Party's Rampur candidate Jaya Prada's hotel room was raided by the police late on Monday night.

Her supporters allege that it was another attempt to malign Jaya Prada.

Rampur goes to polls on Wednesday and the constituency has been witnessing a bitter battle between the party General Secretary Amar Singh and Azam Khan camps.

Jaya Prada had on Monday accused Azam Khan of distributing her fake nude posters. In an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN she also said that she had contemplated committing suicide.

"The day I came to know that they are distributing posters - nude posters which they graphically mixed and matched the face - and other things. It is very unfortunate and they have distributed it (the posters) all over the district. I thought that there is no meaning for me to live in this world. We are talking of women's respect but where is the respect and where is the security for a woman? (sic) In politics we talk about giving 33 per cent reservation to bring in women but which woman would come into politics in such sick conditions? It’s a very disgusting (that) thing is happening," said Jaya Prada.

"I thought of it the moment I came to know that this is the only meaning of woman, because I don't have a background of politics, because I am individual (sic). Whatever I have achieved is by myself, I have earned so much of fame and people love me so much, this is the reason some people are feeling jealous," she said.

"It is very unethical (that these) things are happening. We talk about women's respect in society and I don't think any respectful woman can come into this kind of politics because one cannot stoop to such levels. If they wanted to fight let us face the battle - I am ready to face it. I requested Azam Khan saab that if he wanted to contest from Rampur, I was ready to leave and I was ready to support him by giving campaigning for him. But he rejected (and said) he didn't want to contest. Then why should I leave it to someone else? For five years I have done so much work," she added.

What's your reaction?
