Mumbai: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray is set to meet Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis at the latter’s residence on Thursday. This is the first response from the Sena after desperate attempts were made by the BJP to woo back its old ally.
Highly placed sources say the duo is likely to have a closed-door, one-on-one meeting. “After three rounds of meetings that the BJP had with us, this seems logical. A meeting between both leaders is important,” a Shiv Sena leader told News18.
The Sena is officially stating the reason behind the meet being about the Nannar oil refinery. The right-wing party has been opposed to the refinery in coastal Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district. Uddhav Thackeray’s office has said that he will meet the CM, along with locals from Nannar.
The meeting will take place at 7 pm, with the first round being about the refinery. After that, both Thackeray and Fadnavis are likely to hold the private, closed-door consultation.
Just a couple of days ago, the Sena had said that wasn’t any possibility of a reconciliation with the BJP. It said that they were firm on fighting the coming elections single
Just two days ago, the Sena had refuted any possibility of reconciliation of alliance with BJP. It had said it is firm on fighting the coming elections single-handedly.
