Maharashtra is witnessing its worst drought in 40 years. Nearly 12,000 Maharashtra villages are facing drought.
Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday said that drought-migrants, people who have migrated from villages following severe drought conditions, from villages will be provided water tankers. Leader of Opposition Vinod Tawde had alleged that water was being diverted to breweries instead of giving it to farmers.
He alleged that water was being diverted to the Fosters' brewery.
Maharashtra is witnessing its worst drought in 40 years. Nearly 12,000 Maharashtra villages are facing drought. The government has said that it has spent Rs 414 crore on emergency drinking water supply and Rs 749 crore on fodder. It also added that 2136 water tankers had been pressed into service.
