Mumbai: BJP's denial of Lok Sabha ticket to daughter of late party leader Pramod Mahajan, Poonam Mahajan, has not caused any "heartburn" and there is no question of dissension, a Maharashtra BJP functionary said on Wednesday.
"We are all dedicated workers of the party. There is no hurt, dissension or even disappointment. We have taken the decision in our stride," state BJP spokesperson Vijay Gavhane told PTI.
BJP has fielded Kirit Somaiya for the North-East Mumbai seat, the constituency from where Poonam had sought to contest the polls.
Denial of ticket to Poonam is seen as a setback for party general secretary Gopinath Munde, who is married to Pramod Mahajan's sister Pradnya.
Poonam is the state general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, BJP's youth wing, and had played a key role in organising the recent public rally of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Pune.
Munde, who is supposed to enter the Lok Sabha from Beed, was keen on Poonam getting the ticket from Mumbai, another BJP functionary said.
Munde, who is scheduled to attend an important meeting of the Sena-BJP alliance with Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray today, was unavailable for comment.
