CPI leader D Raja came down heavily on Prime Minister.

New Delhi: The Left seems to have finally made the decision on withdrawing its support to the United Progressive Alliance Government.

Communist Party of India (CPI) National Secretary D Raja came down heavily on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and demanded that he has to explain to the nation "how he manipulated the numbers to get a majority in the House".

"Prime Minister has put the UPA-Left Coordination Committee and Pranab Mukherjee in a ridiculous position. Having made such a categorical statement he has left the Left parties with no choice but to withdraw support," Raja said.

Raja was referring to Manmohan’s statement in Tokyo where the Prime Minister has said, "It has been my effort to push the civil nuclear cooperation agreement and the government remains committed to it."

He also accused the Prime Minister of not having any "respect for any democratic panel".

"The meeting that Pranab has proposed has now become meaningless and irrelevant," the CPI leader said.

Left parties will meet at 1130 hrs IST on Tuesday to discuss Manmohan's statements in Tokyo. Earlier the meeting was scheduled for 1600 hrs IST the same day.
