Parthiban started his career as an assistant director for K Bhagyaraj back in 1984, and the duo collaborated on more than 20 films between 1984 and 1991. Parthiban is known for directing critically acclaimed movies such as Pudhiya Paadhai and House Full, both of which secured the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. He also earned the National Film Award – Special Jury Award for Otha Seruppu Size 7.
He was last seen in the film Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two. R Parthiban is a part of upcoming projects including Dhruva Natchathiram Chapter 1: Yuddha Kaandam and Sequel. His daughter PS Keerthana is an actress. She is best known for her work in the critically acclaimed film Kannathil Muthamittal. She got married to director Akshay on March 8, 2018.
