New Delhi: For the second time in less than a year, CTO of Amazon’s unit that makes devices like Kindle and Fire TV, Jon McCormack, has quit the e-commerce giant to join Google’s team for futuristic projects.

McCormack has now taken a role inside Google’s Advanced Technologies and Projects group. He had first left Amazon late last year for Yahoo but returned after a two-month stint.

A report on re/code notes that McCormack oversaw teams responsible for making software for Kindle, Fire phone and other Amazon hardware.

At the search giant, McCormack will be building out an ecosystem of developers to contribute to Google’s Advanced Technologies and Projects group, headed by Regina Dugan, the former head of the Pentagon’s research group, DARPA.

The team has been formed to tackle ambitious projects including augmented reality and wearable tech.
