MWC 2024: Lenovo Debuts Its Transparent Laptop For The AI Future
Lenovo believes that with AI tech a big part of the future, transparent laptops will have a sure-shot place among consumers in the market.

We have seen foldable laptops in the market and even used one of them, courtesy Asus. But brands are now going the extra mile to show that laptops can be exciting and more. Lenovo has showcased its concept laptop with a transparent display and body as well, which means a nightmare for people trying to shoot or glancing at the screen in bright sunshine.

Jokes apart, the ThinkBook laptop has made its debut at the Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024) in Barcelona this week, and it even has a built-in drawing tablet like at the Wacom’s. This concept Thinkbook laptop features a 17.3-inch display which is large in every aspect and having the transparency element means you can peek through the content, which means a privacy nightmare.

So, what is the technology which makes the laptop transparent? Lenovo is using a MicroLED display without bezels but the transparency level of up to 55 percent is what gives the laptop a different look. Lenovo says once the pixels light up on the screen of this Thinkbook concept, the less it remains like a see through.

The concept does look cool and adds a new touch to the way we see laptops but even the company admits the actual use case for these displays may not be limited to notebooks.

In fact, Lenovo points out that digital artists could see this as the ideal form factor, to view content and draw at the same time, thanks to the built-in drawing portion at the bottom. “Users can seamlessly switch between the keyboard and drawing board with a supported pen, unlocking new levels of creative efficiency,” it adds.

So, when does Lenovo plan to flaunt this concept as a market-ready product? The company didn’t give a timeline and like most concepts, it is possible that we might never see.

The company has shown a lot of promise with its concepts over the years, and you can say the same for Motorola, its co-owned mobile brand that has taken foldable screens to your wrist.
