Adnan Khan’s historical drama, Pracchand Ashok, kept audiences glued to their television screens with its depiction of the romance between Samrat Ashok and Princess Kaurwaki. The daily soap transported viewers back to the ancient era with stunning visuals. Meanwhile, playing the larger-than-life character of Samrat Ashok came with its challenges, but the actor underwent rigorous training to portray the role with precision.
Despite receiving an incredible response from audiences, the daily soap came to an abrupt end last month and left fans devastated. Surprisingly, the show aired for just two months before the makers decided to conclude Samrat Ashok’s story. Days after the show’s conclusion, Adnan recently thanked the cast and crew for the wonderful experience. He also shared a collection of behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the set.
While the exact reason for ending the series remains undisclosed, earlier reports suggested it was due to low viewership ratings.
In a recent Instagram post, Adnan delighted his fans by sharing glimpses from the set alongside his co-stars Rakshanda Khan, Chetan Hansraj, Surendra Pal, Manoj Kolhatkar, Aarush Shrivastava, Dinesh Mehta, Subhandhu, Ankit Bhatia, Shalini Chandran, Leena Balodi, and Manish Khanna. Sharing the post, the Katha Ankahee star wrote, “Thank you. I’m late. But just a shoutout to my entire cast and crew. They all put their best foot forward. My cast was filled with hidden gems. What a wonderful experience.”
Earlier, while confirming the end of Pracchand Ashok, a source close to the production told ETimes, “The show started well and it was launched at a grand level. But unfortunately the ratings did not come in. Most historical shows are fictionalised and that may be one of the reasons why people do not connect with them. It is sad that the show will wrap up by the end of this month. It is likely to air its last episode on March 29.”
Reacting to the rumours of the show’s conclusion, Adnan had told Zoom, “I don’t pay attention to these things, I enjoy my scenes. Our team hasn’t provided us with such information, neither the in-charges, head of production, or the production house has said anything like that, in came to know from the reels. Our team treats each scene, each day as the last scene. We don’t care. We’re here to do good work, to give our best and some very smart people make the right decisions. We give each scene the energy it deserves. When it has to end, it will end.”
Pracchand Ashok explores the story of Samrat Ashoka and Princess Kaurwaki, two characters with contrasting personalities. Kaurwaki wants a partner who values love and prioritizes family, while Ashoka is a fearless emperor, willing to spill blood for power. Despite their differences, fate brings them together.
