ACP Goes Undercover To Test Women's Safety In Agra; Here's What ‘Lady Singham’ Found
ACP Sukanya Sharma, disguised as a tourist, travelled alone at night to better understand the safety conditions for women in Agra.

To understand women’s safety and the response of emergency services, a senior police officer in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, decided to go on a bold mission. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sukanya Sharma disguised herself as a tourist and travelled alone at night to understand the safety conditions for women in the city. To conduct her test, she stopped outside Agra Cantt Railway Station and called the police helpline number 112, claiming she was stranded on an empty road and felt unsafe.

The operator advised her to find a safe spot while gathering details about her location. Within moments, a women’s patrol team reached out to assure her that help was on the way. However, Sharma revealed her true identity and purpose behind the call. She confirmed the response team had passed the test.

Following her initial test, Sharma continued her investigation and took an auto rickshaw. During the ride, she spoke with the driver about safety issues faced by women in Agra. The driver revealed that the police recently checked his background and mentioned that he’d soon be required to wear a uniform while driving. When the driver dropped her at her destination, Sharma felt satisfied with his responses and his behaviour throughout the journey.

ACP Sukanya Sharma’s heroic work came into the limelight when activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj praised her efforts on X. Bhardwaj encouraged police departments across the country to conduct similar experiments to understand the challenges faced by ordinary citizens during the night.

She wrote, “That’s actually the first right step towards women’s safety. Police in every city should do this. Become a common man and experience the city yourself to know the problems people face at night. Good Job by Dr Sukanya Sharma.” Interestingly, the ACP’s work was also praised by the Police Commissionerate Agra.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Kudos to this step. We are expecting such scenarios all over the country.”

Another shared, “That’s the spirit of the lady Singham.”

One more added, “It should be mandatory for all the police officers to conduct such checks which will further strengthen the police force and their intelligence team.”

Since the video was shared on X, it has garnered over 6000 views.
