Apple Users Rejoice As Company Goes From Having No Calculator on iPad to Best One Overnight
Apple users can't keep calm after company finally introduces Calculator app on iPad, here's how the internet reacted.

After years of user pleas, memes, and jokes, Apple has finally done it: a native Calculator app for the iPad is here! The news broke during the WWDC 2024 keynote, unveiling a standout new feature for iPadOS 18.

Though it looks similar to the iOS calculator, the iPad version brings something extra special—Apple Pencil integration. Imagine scribbling equations directly in the app and watching them transform into solved problems before your eyes. This magic is powered by “Math Notes,” a feature that doesn’t just recognize your handwriting but solves the math for you. Yes, you heard that right.

For students, this is a game-changer, though some teachers might raise an eyebrow at an app that does the heavy lifting. Remember when graphing calculators felt revolutionary? This is the future. With the Apple Pencil, just draw a formula, and let the on-board AI handle the rest.

For years, rumours of a native calculator app for the iPad have swirled, and the announcement finally puts an end to the speculation. But was it really a surprise? Three years ago, in a video with YouTuber MKBHD, Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, hinted at something special for the iPad calculator. He teased that Apple, as always, aimed to bring something unique to the table.

Fast forward to 2024, and Apple has delivered, sending iOS users into a frenzy.

“Calculator comes to iPad. Biggest cheer of the day. Not joking,” declared MKBHD.

Another user chimed in, “Apple went from not having a calculator to having the best calculator in iPads overnight. This is actually very cool.” And yet another tweet captured the collective amazement: “Me: ‘lol they finally brought a calculator to the iPad.’ Me 2 minutes later: ‘holy crap math notes are amazing.'”

This move mirrors the introduction of the Weather app in iPadOS 16, finally fulfilling another long-requested feature for Apple’s tablet lineup.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there. iPadOS 18 also includes “Smart Script,” a feature designed to enhance handwriting legibility. Plus, the update brings several personalization features from iOS 18, further blurring the lines between Apple’s mobile operating systems.
