Viral News: Brazilian woman takes dead man's corpse to a bank to secure a Rs 2 lakh loan, arrested.

In a shocking incident in Rio de Janeiro, a Brazilian woman brought the body of an elderly man to a bank in an attempt to have him cosign a loan, as reported by the New York Post. Identified as Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes, the woman was captured on video standing beside the deceased man, who was seated in a wheelchair. She was observed attempting to support his head while speaking to him.

In the footage, Nunes can be heard addressing the man, whom she calls “uncle,” and requesting him to sign documents for a $3,400 (approx. Rs. 2.83 lakhs) loan.

“Uncle, are you listening? You need to sign [the loan contract]. If you don’t sign, there’s no way, because I can’t sign for you,” she said while trying to place a pen in his hand. She also urged him to grip it “firmly.”

“Sign so you don’t give me any more headaches, I can’t take it anymore,” she continued. Despite a bank employee noting that the man appeared “pale” and unwell, Nunes disregarded the observation.

“He is like that. He doesn’t say anything,” she remarked. She even appeared to inquire of the corpse, “Uncle, do you want to go to the [hospital] again?”

Nevertheless, bank workers grew suspicious when they observed the woman speaking into the ear of the pale, lifeless body. Waste no time, they promptly alerted the authorities, leading to Nunes’ arrest by the police.

“She tried to pretend to get him to sign the loan. He already entered the bank dead,” stated Police Chief Fabio Luiz in an interview with TV Globo, Brazil’s largest broadcaster. “The main thing is to continue the investigation to identify other family members, and find out more about this loan.”

As per the New York Post report, the police declared their intention to scrutinize the circumstances surrounding Braga’s demise and verify Nunes’ claimed relation to him. Additionally, authorities will explore the involvement of other family members in the alleged bank fraud scheme.
