Did You Know: Anu Malik Was Upset with Nephew Amaal for No Credits in 'Neend Churayi Meri' Remix
Bollywood trivia: Anu Malik was upset with his nephew Amaal for using 'Neend Churayi Meri' without his permission.

Did you know that the song ‘Neend Churayi Meri’ by Anu Malik from the 1997 comedy ‘Ishq’ was remade as ‘Maine Tujhko Dekha’ by his nephew Amaal Malik for the 2017 film ‘Golmaal Again’? We were today years old when we found out that the song had stirred up some trouble in the Malik family. The gossip started spreading after a Reddit post went viral, revealing this Bollywood tidbit that many, including us, were unaware of.

So, what’s the deal? According to a report by the Bombay Times, Anu Malik was upset because his nephew didn’t inform him about using his tune and for not giving him credit as the original composer. He said, “If you want to give a twist to a song, I have no problem, but don’t forget to mention the original composer’s name.”

“I wish Amaal all the best, but it will always be an Anu Malik tune. The younger generation, which has never heard that song, will think this is the original composer. It is fine to recreate, but don’t forget to credit the original composers,” he continued.

However, Amaal Malik had a different take on the matter. He told DNA, “We didn’t need to take his permission. We took the rights from them. We had taken the rights to the original song (Sending All My Love by Linear) on which the Neend Churayi Tune is based. However, I’d have liked to get my uncle’s permission. That seemed like the right thing to do. We even wanted him to sing the remix. It would have been a nice nostalgic touch. But he wouldn’t entertain my calls. So I gave up.”
