There are only a few things in the world that fascinate people as much as a ‘nude cruise’. Like its name suggests, nude cruises are clothing-optional cruises where passengers have the liberty of not wearing clothes or wearing as little as they want while they are on the cruise ship. Each nude cruise has a set of rules to maintain decorum and hygiene. Recently, a man who claimed to have returned from a ‘2,000 person nude cruise’ urged people to ask him their burning questions about nude cruises. The man mentioned that he booked the cruise by Bare Necessities, a Texas-based travel company that has been organising clothing-optional cruises since 1990.
In a viral Reddit post, the man wrote, “I just disembarked from a 2,000-person nude cruise. AMA.” He then answered some of the most frequently asked questions. He wrote that the staff was always dressed during the nude cruise. He added, “There was no public s*x”. Talking about the crowd, the Reddit user said, “Generally speaking, the crowd was older and not particularly attractive. However, there were attractive people too.”

He also explained the motivation behind going bare while on a vacation and wrote, “The “why” is because it’s a nice feeling to be nude, just like it’s a nice feeling for a man to be without a shirt at the beach. Skinny dipping is great. Being nude at some of the world’s nicest beaches is great.” The Reddit user claimed that the “nudists are as interested in hygiene as much as if not more than the next guy” and there was a “no bare butts on any surface in any public space” policy that was followed by everyone.
Commenting on this post, a person shared their experience of going to the nude beach and wrote, “I don’t really have a question, just a little blurb. I went to a nude beach a few years ago and actually enjoyed myself. I was not comfortable going fully nude but my experience was basically what you are describing – very chill and people were nice in a non sexual way. I think people do think about it the wrong way, it was a very non sexual experience and I enjoyed it! No one was weird or creepy as we were quite young females at the time. 10/10 experience.”
Another person described being a nudist in a philosophical sense and explained, “Some of us want to desexualise the naked body. People find offence in nudity. People get ashamed for simply being. Others justify rape or sexual misconduct for garments or skin exposure. Many attribute value and morality to clothing. The human body is not offensive. All bodies are beautiful. Everyone should be proud of who and what they are. Clothing does not determine your value or place in society, you simply are valuable”.
